NCAA Lacrosse Tournament 2014: Schedule, game times, TV coverage for Saturday

The NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament has reached the Final Four with the national semifinals on tap for Saturday.

USA TODAY Sports

Only four teams remain alive in the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament and that number will be cut in half on Saturday with a pair of national semifinal games. The two contests will set up the national championship game on Monday. Although there have been some upsets along the way, the Final Four teams are a who’s who of college lacrosse. Maryland, Denver, Duke and Notre Dame will all make at least their third semifinals appearance in the last five years.

No. 1-seeded and reigning national champion Duke headlines the Final Four. The Blue Devils are familiar with Final Four weekend, making their eighth straight appearance in the national semifinals. With two more wins, Duke would become the first back-to-back national champion since Syracuse won it all in 2008 and 2009. In order to get there, the Blue Devils will first have to get by No. 5 Denver. The matchup could be a high-scoring affair as Duke and Denver have two of the best offenses in the country. Duke was No. 2 in scoring offense while Denver checked in with the No. 3 scoring offense, but the No. 1 offense in adjusted efficiency, according to Testudo Times. The game, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET, will be a rematch from the regular season, a game Duke won.

The second semifinal will be a rubber match between No. 6 Notre Dame and No. 7 Maryland. The teams split their first two meetings with Maryland winning during the regular season and Notre Dame winning in the ACC Tournament. Jake Nazar of Testudo Times wrote the game may come down to which team is able to impose its style of play on the other. The ACC rivals will match up in the late semifinal game, with a scheduled start time of 3:30 p.m. ET.
