NCAA Lacrosse Championship 2014, Duke vs. Notre Dame: Game time, TV schedule and more

The No. 1 Duke Blue Devils will try to become the first team in five years to repeat as national champs on Monday afternoon, hosting the No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the title game of the 2014 NCAA Lacrosse Championships at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD.

Monday’s championship game will be televised by ESPN2 beginning at 1 p.m. ET.

Duke (16-3) defeated No. 5 Denver 15-12 on Saturday, using a run of four unanswered goals in the first half and then a 4-1 spurt over four consecutive possessions in the second half to put the game away. Kyle Keenan led Duke with four goals on Saturday, while Jordan Wolf and Deemer Class each scored three.

The Blue Devils have won four straight and 12 of their last 13 games. Duke makes its fifth appearance in a national lacrosse final, all in the last 10 years, and seeks its third championship to join the 2010 and 2013 squads.

Matt Kavanagh scored five goals and had two assists to lead Notre Dame over No. 7 Maryland 11-6 in its Saturday Final Four matchup. The Fighting Irish (12-5) has won six straight games and is seeking its first title in men’s lacrosse.

Notre Dame is in the national championship game for the second time in its history, along with the 2010 team that lost to Duke in the final. The last team to win back-to-back lacrosse titles was Syracuse in 2008-2009.

The two teams met earlier this season in South Bend, Ind. on April 5, with Duke prevailing with a 15-7 road triumph. Both Duke and Notre Dame have lost just one game each since that encounter.
