California Chrome left little doubt in the 140th Kentucky Derby. The heavy favorite cruised to a win on Saturday with a dominant performance down the stretch, winning his fifth race in a row.

California Chrome had a dominant win in the Kentucky Derby. Here are the payout results.


Uncle Sigh led for most of the beginning of the race as California Chrome got off to a bit of a slow start, but he turned on the burners at the top stretch and left the competition in the dust. Commanding Curve and Danza finished second and third, respectively.
California Chrome was the clear-cut favorite with 2-1 odds after winning his last four races. The colt’s odds dropped dramatically since Hopportunity got scratched earlier in the week, and he started the morning at 5-2 before more money came pouring in throughout the day. Wicked Strong was the runner-up at 6-1 odds and finished fourth.
This year’s guaranteed purse is worth a minimum of $2 million with a majority of the money going to the winner. Here are the top four finishers in the race and their respective guaranteed payouts.

4. Wicked Strong - $100,000
