The weather forecast for the 2014 PGA U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina has a chance of showers and even thunderstorms every day. I don’t anticipate any of these rain events to wash out a day completely but there definitely could be times where play is suspended because of strong storms and lightning.

Several storm systems will work across the Carolinas for the end of the week and into the weekend. This will bring high chances of showers and even storms for the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
Several disturbances will be working across North Carolina the next few days. The first one arrives on Thursday with scattered showers and storms likely from mid-day into the afternoon. Another system arrives Friday into Saturday, again increasing the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. This system will stall across the region on Sunday, keeping that risk of a scattered shower and storm to form during the final round of the U.S. Open.
Besides the threat of showers and storms each day of the tournament, it is going to be hot and humid. Afternoon temperatures each day will be in the upper 80s to near 90 and it will feel muggy.
THURSDAY - OPENING ROUND WEATHER FORECASTS
Mix of clouds and sunshine for the day Thursday, as an approaching system crosses the state of North Carolina. This will spark areas and clusters of showers and thunderstorms from mid-day into the afternoon. There will be dry times but a storm or two could potentially suspend play during the afternoon and into the evening. It will also be hot with temperatures near 90 degrees, humid, with the wind out of the south between 5 to 10 mph.
FRIDAY - SECOND ROUND WEATHER FORECAST
The forecast for Friday is similar to that of Thursday with scattered showers and storms likely during the afternoon. It will once again be hot and humid with afternoon temperatures reaching near 90, and a southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.
WEEKEND - THIRD & FINAL ROUND WEATHER FORECAST
The forecast for the weekend looks a little drier, especially for Saturday. There is the risk of a scattered to isolated shower or storm during the afternoon but the threat is lower than Thursday and Friday. The same can be said for the final round on Sunday, with sun and clouds and just a chance of a scattered shower or storm during the afternoon. Highs both days will be near or into the low 90s.
