Wes Welker has a horse named ‘Undrafted’ in the Belmont
Undrafted, owned by Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker, will be competing in an undercard race at Belmont on Saturday.
Despite having a horse, Undrafted, competing in an undercard race, Wes Welker will not attend Saturday's Belmont Stakes, according to the Boston Globe.
Welker made headlines at the Kentucky Derby when he handed out $100 bills to fellow attendees.
The next thing he knew, Welker was handing the people in the group Blandford was with $100 bills.
“He said he just won the Kentucky Derby and proceeded to walk down the line until the police officer stopped him,” he said. “I think six of us ended up with $100 bills.”
Welker and a group of friends won more than $42,000 at the Kentucky Derby, mostly by boxing 37-1 longshot Commanding Curve, who finished second. However, per ESPN, the group was overpaid by about $14,000. The error was was made by the track, so Welker and friends were not asked to return the money.
Undrafted is running in the fourth race of the day at Belmont.
