John Deere Classic 2014 results: Brian Harman takes over the lead, Steve Stricker 1 back

Scores went very low at TPC Deere Run on Saturday, with 19 players now 10-under or better. There was also a change at the top of the leaderboard.

The John Deere Classic was set up for scoring on Saturday, and most of the field took advantage. Scores went very low -- even by TPC Deere Run standards -- with several players surging up the leaderboard. It took a round in the low-to-mid 60s just to keep pace. Brian Harman was able to do just that, and his 6-under round of 65 was good enough to move him to 17-under for the tournament and into the 54-hole lead.

Harman got his round off to a very good start with an eagle on his second hole. That proved to be the first of two eagles for him on the day, as he also eagled the par-5 17th hole to move to 18-under. He wasn’t quite able to finish the round off in style and gave a shot right back at No. 18. Even with the closing bogey, Harman’s round was still good enough to jump from a tie for third to the top of the leaderboard. He doesn’t lead by much, however, with six other players at 14-under or better. That includes Steve Stricker, in second place at 16-under. The three-time John Deere Classic winner shot a 7-under 64.

Scott Brown turned in the round of the day, jumping from 25th place to third with a 10-under round of 61. Zach Johnson was tied for the lead after the first and second rounds, but dropped three shots off the pace on Saturday. Although he carded yet another round in the 60s -- his 23rd straight at the John Deere -- his 69 wasn’t low enough. Defending champion Jordan Spieth also still has some work to do: he shot a 67 in the third round and is six off the lead at 11-under.
