How to watch the 3rd round of the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship online, TV schedule and more

It’s Sunday at the Deutsche Bank Championship but that only means it’s moving day.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

At a typical PGA Tour event, the tournament is on the line on Sunday. The Deutsche Bank Championship is not your typical PGA Tour event. Not only is the event part of the FedEx Cup playoffs, but it is the only event that doesn’t operate on the typical Thursday through Sunday schedule. Instead, the tournament runs from Friday to Monday, making Sunday moving day.

Jason Day and Ryan Palmer will open the third round tied for the lead at 8-under. Palmer was unable to follow up his opening-round 63 and shot a 71 on Saturday. Day followed a first-round 66 with a second-round 68 to pull even with Palmer. They will play in the final pairing on Sunday. Several players will begin the day in contention with 12 players opening within three shots of the lead. The list of notable players in contention is long with Matt Kuchar, Keegan Bradley, Patrick Reed, Jordan Spieth and Martin Kaymer all in the top 10.

With the tournament heading to the third round, the television coverage will expand as NBC joins Golf Channel in its coverage. Golf Channel will kick it off with a broadcast set to begin at 1 p.m. ET. With Golf Channel and NBC both under the Comcast umbrella, there will be no blackout when the broadcast transitions to NBC. Instead, NBC will pick up coverage right at 3 p.m. ET. That’s when Golf Channel’s main coverage will end, but the network will continue to broadcast until 5 p.m., providing “spotlight coverage” for the final two hours. The coverage will focus on hole Nos. 16, 17 and 18.

There will be a pair of streams to supplement the coverage. The Golf Channel and NBC broadcasts will be available via a live simulcast stream which will run from 1 to 6 p.m. PGATour.com will also provide a featured group stream. The morning coverage will begin at 8 a.m.
