Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 live results: Round 1

A recap of the action from Round 1 of the rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana.

Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana came out for the first round of their rematch each looking to make their mark and establish the way this fight was going to play out.

In the first bout, Maidana came on strong in the early rounds before Mayweather eventually came back.

The crowd chanted for Maidana prior to the bout starting, and the two fighters came out to the center of the ring. Mayweather started working the jab early, with Maidana working much slower than the first bout.

Maidana eventually got Floyd to the ropes and landed one right hand before Floyd spun off. Moments later Mayweather lost his balance and fell down near the ropes, but it was a clear slip.

Mayweather moved effectively this round and landed a few decent punches while Maidana tried to chase him down.

Mayweather seemed to clearly win this round just on movement and potshotting as Maidana wasn’t able to get off very much.

A 10-9 round for Mayweather on the SBN card.
