Football Sunday tales of sadness

Every gathering of football fans will feature schadenfreude, false hope, or drunken woe. We gather to commiserate over these stories.

It’s that time of year again. Every Sunday, sports bars and restaurants with multiple televisions will be crammed wall-to-wall with rabid football fans, all clinging to various levels of hope and/or delusion.

For Week 1 of the NFL, I asked all of you to share your tales of hilarity, sadness, or a guy in a Browns jersey passed out in the bathroom of a Beef O’Brady’s. WEEK 1 TALES OF SADNESS:

- Daniel Kelley’s nephew walked into the room and saw the Patriots playing, then proceeded to announce that they were his favorite team, because they’re from Canada.

- It’s another season for the Jets:

- Even in desolation, we watch football:

- In a Bears bar in San Diego (yes), a man showed up ... to read the newspaper.

He did intermittently clap for the Bears, however. So he wasn’t JUST reading the newspaper.

- It’s another season for the Washington NFL team:

- I think we have all been where this Titans fan has been:

Although unlike Solo Nachos Titans Fan, not everyone’s team won on Sunday.
