League of Legends World Championship 2015 live stream: How to watch Thursday’s games online

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

It begins Thursday. The League of Legends World Championships are upon us with 16 teams competing for a $2 million prize pool, but more importantly the right to call themselves champions. October is the culmination of an entire year of effort, and countless hours of practice and play.

Paris marks the home of the group stage in 2015, and LGD Gaming is an unsurprising early favorite. The Chinese team won the LPL Summer Playoffs over Qiao Gu, and look to keep that momentum into worlds. Competition will be stiff, with Edward Gaming (last year’s world champions) and SK Telecom T1 boasting talented teams.

Action on Thursday will feature the opening games of two North American teams: Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming. Counter Logic Gaming boasts North America’s best chance at worlds this year and C9 is an unquestionable fan favorite -- making these two games to watch.

Also on display will be Fnatic, who represent the best chances of a Western team to win worlds, while SK Telecom T1 might be the most technically gifted team in the world.

How to watch:

The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m. ET, with competition beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET. Six games are on the slate, with the final game at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Streaming is available online via Twitch.tv and YouTube
