Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins returned to action Sunday after missing the last two weeks with a calf injury. He only made it through most of the first half, though, before injuring his ankle. Watkins hurt himself scoring a touchdown in the Bills’ 34-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Sammy Watkins leaves with ankle injury; fantasy owners hold their breath
The Buffalo wide receiver was hurt while scoring a touchdown Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Watkins had four catches for 48 yards and a score before his injury. He was seen on crutches in the second half, and it was reported he had sprained his ankle. With Percy Harvin also sidelined, Chris Hogan and Robert Woods were the team’s top wide receivers.
Fantasy impact: Watkins just can’t seem to stay healthy, which, when combined with the team’s up-and-down quarterback play, makes for a frustrating fantasy experience. Watkins wasn’t even back to 100 percent from his calf injury before hurting his ankle on Sunday.
Harvin will be out “indefinitely” with his hip problems, so the Bills will really need Watkins to play, if he can at all. Keep an eye on the reports the first couple days of the week. With Buffalo playing in London in Week 7, we might hear about Watkins’ status pretty early.
