The opening day to the League of Legends World Championships was fantastic. Surprising games, exciting team fights and a few shock champion choices ... it was great. It was an excellent day if you’re the patriotic type with both Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming jumping out to 1-0 starts in their groups.
League of Legends World Championship 2015 live stream: How to watch Friday’s games online
On Friday we get to see the 10 ton elephant in the room: LGD Gaming. The Chinese team have been a juggernaut this year, and along with SKTelecom T1 represent likely finalists. They face Origen in the second game of the day and this is less about wanting to see a strong performance from LGD, and more that it will be interesting to see if they can live up to their potential. Premier tournaments like this can do funny things to even the most stalwart team, and with adjustments post-patch we could see some surprising champion choices.
Two North American teams will take the stage again with Team Solo Mid kicking off the day followed by Counter Logic Gaming playing their second group game. We’ll see if the stunning runs of Western wins can continue.
