Week 7 of the fantasy football season is here, and we have yet more bye weeks to plan around. This week the teams off are the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy football waiver wire: 4 tight ends to target for Week 7
With Tyler Eifert and Martellus Bennett on bye, fantasy owners have slim pickings on the waiver wire.
That’s bad news for fantasy owners because two of the top tight ends (Tyler Eifert and Martellus Bennett) are unavailable for Week 7, making a thin market even thinner. Even decent streaming options like Owen Daniels and Richard Rodgers are on bye.
So fantasy owners will probably have to dig for scraps on the waiver wire again. Here are four potential options owned in 50 percent of less of Yahoo! leagues.
Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers (35 percent)
Miller might be the biggest victim of Ben Roethlisberger’s injury. Since Roethlisberger went down in Week 3, Miller has combined for just five catches and 52 yards in the last three games. It’s been a rough drought for the veteran with Mike Vick under center.
However, things could be looking up for Miller. Roethlisberger is tentatively expected back this week, and even if he doesn’t return, the Steelers should go to Landry Jones, who would do well to use the veteran tight end as a safety valve. The 32-year-old Miller is clearly past his prime, but he should have enough left in the tank to be a fantasy asset in what projects to be an explosive offense once Big Ben is 100 percent.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (28 percent)
Seferian-Jenkins is out with a shoulder injury, but should be close to a return -- he had an original 4-6 week timetable when he got hurt in Week 2, and is right in the middle of that window with the Bucs coming off a Week 6 bye. ASJ showed some solid chemistry with Jameis Winston early on, hauling in two touchdowns on five catches in Week 1. ASJ has red zone chops but he’s struggled to stay on the field, playing just 11 of 21 possible games in his two-year career.
Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions (18 percent)
Another second-year player working his way back from injury, Ebron was close to returning in Week 6 but ultimately got ruled out for the second straight game. Like most tight ends, he has a low floor but high ceiling if Matthew Stafford targets him in the red zone. Ebron has 15 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns in four games.
Crockett Gillmore, Baltimore Ravens (11 percent)
Gillmore came back from a calf injury and settled in with 30 yards on three catches. It wasn’t an impressive stat line like in Week 2 (five catches, 88 yards, two touchdowns), which will probably go down as his season highlight, but with the Ravens still struggling to find weapons Gillmore should keep himself on the TE2 radar.
