Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller had an enormous game Sunday. Miller and the entire Dolphins team had a big enough first half, in fact, that Miller didn’t even see the field in the second half of the Dolphins’ 44-26 win over the Houston Texans.
Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Lamar Miller explodes in first half
The Miami running back must be enjoying the team’s new head coach. We break down the fantasy implications.

Miller had 14 carries for 175 yards and a touchdown, adding three catches for 61 yards and another score. All told, that was good for 35 fantasy points, more than double his 17 of a week ago and equal to his season total entering Week 7. The Dolphins led 41-0 at halftime, so Miller sat the entire second half, letting backup Jonas Gray carry the ball 12 times for 48 yards.
Fantasy impact: Miller must love his new role in the Miami offense. He had 218 yards from scrimmage and no touchdowns in four games before Joe Philbin was fired as head coach. In two games since, Miller has 354 yards and three scores.
There’s little chance Miller will continue to produce at this rate, but two weeks ago Miller was an afterthought in fantasy running-back rankings.
Sunday’s game, on the back of a big game in Week 6, has him solidly in the RB2 territory going forward, with the possibility of RB1 consideration.
