NYC Marathon 2015: Events, times and schedule for the weekend

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The 2015 New York City Marathon will be run on Sunday afternoon, but that will be the culmination of a weekend full of events, beginning on Friday night. Here is a look at the schedule for the weekend in the Big Apple.

Opening ceremonies begin on Friday afternoon with a ceremony at Central Park, followed by a party and dinner on Saturday night.

Wilson Kipsang of Kenya is back to defend his 2014 New York City Marathon title in Sunday’s big race, and fellow Kenyan Mary Keitany returns, as well, after winning the women’s division last year.

ESPN2 will cover the marathon nationally with John Anderson and Hannah Storm co-hosting race day coverage, along with Rob Powers, Laura Behnke, Lewis Johnson, Tim Hutchings and Carrie Tollefson from WABC-TV New York. Depending on the event, the broadcast will be online at Watch ESPN, Watch ABC or abc7ny.com.
