Only two weeks into his return from knee injury, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had to leave with another injury. Roethlisberger played into the fourth quarter of the Steelers’ 38-35 win over the Oakland Raiders before being carted off with what has been reported since as a foot sprain.
Ben Roethlisberger injures foot; Steelers, fantasy owners have to look elsewhere again
The quarterback only played two games before getting hurt again. We break down the fantasy implications.

Roethlisberger completed 24 of his 44 pass attempts before injury, good for 334 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. After Roethlisberger left, he was replaced by Landry Jones, who started Week 7 while Roethlisberger was hurt. Jones went 4-of-6 passing for 79 yards and led the team’s game-winning drive.
Fantasy impact: ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Roethlisberger’s injury is expect to keep him out only a week or two. Considering the Steelers have a Week 11 bye after a Week 10 game against the Browns, it’s very possible Roethlisberger misses only one game.
In the meantime, Jones will serve as the team’s quarterback. He wasn’t any great shakes in Week 7 against Kansas City, and won’t be worth much in fantasy assuming he draws the Week 10 start. All the Steelers will really look for out of Jones, though, is that he keeps Antonio Brown relevant and keeps some of the attention off of DeAngelo Williams, both of whom had monster games Sunday. Jones should be at least competent enough for that, but he should be anywhere near fantasy lineups in his own right.
