Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson was ruled questionable to return to Sunday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles after suffering a knee injury, but is expected to return according to Mark Dalton of the Cards’ official site. The rookie is in the midst of a fantastic game, highlighted by a bulldozing, pinballing 47-yard touchdown run through the Eagles defense.
Cardinals RB David Johnson suffers knee injury, expected to return vs. Eagles
The rookie running back was having a fantastic game against the Eagles.

Johnson left the game after racking up 112 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Even if you took away his long touchdown run, Johnson still would have been averaging 5 yards per carry.
A serious injury to Johnson would leave the Cardinals desperately thin at running back. They are already down veteran Chris Johnson, who isn’t eligible to return from a fractured tibia until the Super Bowl after being placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. The Cardinals are also missing Andre Ellington, who is suffering from a toe injury.
David Johnson has been excellent in place of the Cardinals’ injured starters. He is coming off outings of 99 and 92 rushing yards in Weeks 13 and 14, respectively. In place of Johnson, the Cardinals would have to rely on Kerwynn Williams and Stepfan Taylor to handle the rushing load. Williams had three carries for 28 yards when Johnson left.
