We’re headed into the final week of the fantasy football season, with the championship rounds set to take place in Week 16.
Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 wide receivers to target for Week 16
Find out which wide receivers are worth a look on the waiver wire ahead of this week’s fantasy championship round.
If your team is still alive at this point, chances are that your roster is already at full strength, and you’d be best off using the players who got you this far. However, there are still some good options on the waiver wire, particularly at the wide receiver position. If you’re in a keeper or dynasty league and are eliminated from the playoffs, now is the time to stock up on young players who could help you out next season.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at five potential waiver gems at receiver, owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
Devin Funchess, Carolina Panthers (36 percent)
The rookie had another quiet game, catching just two passes for 30 yards, but he did find the end zone for the fourth time this season. Still just a part-time player, Funchess is just a dart throw for DFS purposes, but with Cam Newton dealing, he has a reasonable shot to score against the Atlanta Falcons.
DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins (35 percent)
Parker’s second-half surge has been one of the few bright spots on a Dolphins team that’s just going through the motions with an interim coach. He had another solid outing in Week 15, turning six targets into four catches and 87 yards. With Rishard Matthews still nursing a rib injury, Parker will be on the WR3 radar against the Indianapolis Colts’ soft defense.
Rueben Randle, New York Giants (35 percent)
The NFL handed Odell Beckham Jr. a one-game suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Josh Norman last Sunday. While Beckham is appealing his suspension, it would be surprising if he won. ODB’s absence would be a crippling one for the Giants as they desperately fight for a playoff berth, so fantasy owners should downgrade Eli Manning accordingly. That said, someone has to soak up Beckham’s targets while he sits out, and Randle is as good a bet as any. He’ll be a WR3 against a Minnesota Vikings defense that’s still banged up.
Markus Wheaton, Pittsburgh Steelers (29 percent)
While Wheaton remains a distant third behind Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant, the offense is explosive enough that he’s getting more targets to work with. Wheaton had another solid game in Week 15, grabbing six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. It’s the third touchdown Wheaton has caught in four games, and he’s cleared 50 yards in four straight weeks. Wheaton doesn’t have as high a fantasy ceiling as Brown or Bryant, but he’s at least established a clear floor, which is enough to consider him as a flex player. Wheaton and the Steelers look to feast on the Baltimore Ravens’ depleted squad this week.
Dorial Green-Beckham, Tennessee Titans (23 percent)
Green-Beckham had another quality game last Sunday despite Marcus Mariota getting injured early on. He finished with six catches for 113 yards, his second 100-yard effort in three games. Green-Beckham’s production might take a hit with Zach Mettenberger starting in Week 16, but he’s done enough to at least be on the WR map against the Houston Texans. DGB remains a must-hold in dynasty/keeper leagues.
