Knicks forward Cleanthony Early shot in knee early Wednesday morning
The Knicks’ forward was robbed and shot in the leg after leaving a New York strip club. He was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

A group of four to six people in ski masks boxed Early’s Uber in about a mile from the CityScapes gentlemen’s club in Maspeth, Queens. They stepped out and took everything on him, including his personal items and jewelry. During the robbery, he was shot in the knee. He is reportedly in stable condition at a local hospital.
“We are aware of what occurred with Cleanthony Early this morning and are relieved that he is not in a life-threatening situation,” a Knicks team spokesperson said in a statement, via the Wall Street Journal. “We will not comment any further until we receive more.”
The team said that Early was released from the hospital Wednesday morning. Both the Uber driver and Early’s girlfriend were unharmed, a law-enforcement official told the Journal.
Early was the Knicks’ 2014 second-round pick after a successful career at Wichita State. After showing some promise as a rookie, he has played in just 10 games for the Knicks this season. He’s also spent some time in the NBA Developmental League.
Early is the second Knicks player to be robbed this month. Nine days ago, two women stole $750,000 of jewelry from Derrick Williams’ home.
