Cubs’ Jorge Soler, Javier Baez and Kris Bryant hit back-to-back-to-back home runs

Reactions to the rare feat accomplished by the Cubs’ trio of young stars.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Highly touted Chicago Cubs youngsters Jorge Soler, Javier Baez and Kris Bryant hit back-to-back-to-back home runs off of Cleveland Indians starter Trevor Bauer in the fourth inning of a Cactus League game on Tuesday.

Soler got it started with a towering shot just inside the left field foul pole and Baez followed by crushing a pitch to almost the same spot. Bryant changed things up a bit, taking Bauer about 400 feet to the opposite field for his second homer of the spring.

It had been a while since the Cubs accomplished that feat in the regular season:

This one, though, was a little more fun considering the players involved and the hope they provide to long-suffering Cubs fans. Speaking of which, the team made a nice gesture in checking up on their faithful followers:

Unfortunately, MLB had to go and ruin the fun:

Thanks, Commissioner Manfred. Luckily, Baseball America’s Ben Badler brought back the good times:

Meanwhile, the Indians were focusing on more important things. Like, you know, winning -- and their own super prospect, Francisco Lindor.

That's right: the Cubs, who entered the day 0-5 in Cactus League play, were still losing despite the hoopla. Sure, spring training doesn't matter, but is there anything more Cubs than that?

The Cubs went on to lose, 10-6, falling to 0-6. At least they have this to fall back on:

As for the constant in each of the home runs? Bauer seems to have a pretty good attitude about the whole thing:

What a good sport.
