Bills fans worried about LeSean McCoy’s future in Buffalo can take a sigh of relief: The running back has reportedly reached a deal with the team to restructure his contract according to Adam Schefter, ensuring he stays one of the highest paid players at his position in the league.
LeSean McCoy agrees to 5-year, $40 million deal with Bills, per report
A big contract will quiet reports that McCoy was bummed out to be brought to the Bills.

According to Schefter, the deal is for five years and $40 million with $26.5 million guaranteed. The deal is heavily front-loaded, with the 26-year-old receiving $16 million this season. He was previously scheduled to receive $9.75 million in a deal that lasted through 2017. A $16 million paycheck would make him the highest-paid running back in the league in 2015, while his average of $8 million per year would be the fifth highest.
There were reports McCoy was displeased with the trade that brought him from the Eagles to the Bills, taking him out of Chip Kelly’s high-powered offense and dropping him in Buffalo. But surely with that much cash, he’s a bit happier with the deal. That said, with a heavily front-loaded deal, it’s likely McCoy doesn’t play the full five years, especially considering he’ll be 31 by the time it expires.
