Mayweather (47-0, 26 KO) and Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KO) weighed in Friday in front of a capacity crowd, and fight week fever has gripped the nation. This is a true mega event, a true mega fight, and the pay-per-view pricing does reflect that. Standard definition will run you $90, and if you want to live in 2015, it will be $100 for HD.
Usually for Pacquiao’s fights, Top Rank has an option to stream the pay-per-view online through their web site. That is not the case this time, as Top Rank is not the lead promoter for the fight and had to make certain concessions to get the fight through, as well as getting both HBO and Showtime on board, and everyone including cable and satellite companies making the most possible money.
There are also no movie theater showings for the fight, and closed circuit in Las Vegas is nearly sold out. Bars and restaurants are limited in showing the fight, as well, as the price to license the fight for public viewing is huge. Hooters locations will be showing the fight with a $30 cover charge, while most Buffalo Wild Wings locations are not airing the fight. Those that are also have a $20 cover charge.
So there's most likely only one way for most of you to legally watch Mayweather-Pacquiao: buy the pay-per-view. The show starts at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, with three fights set for the main broadcast: Vasyl Lomachenko vs Gamalier Rodriguez (featherweights, 12 rounds); Leo Santa Cruz vs Jose Cayetano (featherweights, 10 rounds); and Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao (welterweights, 12 rounds).
We will have a live stream of the red carpet show starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT here at SB Nation before the fight, so you can indulge in the final hour of hoopla.
