The New Orleans Pelicans have interviewed former Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro as the team's next potential leader, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. The 13-year NBA veteran led the Clippers and Chicago Bulls to four playoff appearances in five seasons and helped Los Angeles reach its then-highest regular season win total of 56 in 2011-12.

Budding superstar Anthony Davis, who made the All-NBA First Team in his third season, is a major draw for any potential coach in New Orleans, the likes of which include current Golden State Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry and former New York Knicks head coach Jeff Van Gundy.
New Orleans is looking to take the next step forward as a franchsie after being swept in the Western Conference First Round by the Warriors. Del Negro has a career 210-184 record, and a track record of developing young players. Though it’s still believed the frontrunners are Gentry and Van Gundy, Del Negro’s name adds intrigue to the search.
