Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2015 results: Floyd Mayweather stays undefeated with decision win

Floyd Mayweather kept his undefeated record and controlled the ring tonight against Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd Mayweather improved to 48-0 with a win over Manny Pacquiao on Saturday in a fight that probably failed to live up to the hype, though it’s arguable that nothing could have. At any rate, Mayweather won on scores of 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110. SB Nation scored the fight 117-111 for Mayweather.

Mayweather (48-0, 26 KO) was nearly perfect, stifling Pacquiao’s output and ability to land clean shots. Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KO) certainly had moments of success, but ultimately they were few and far between. The 36-year-old Pacquiao looked in good shape and looked quick and strong. But, Mayweather’s defense, nullifying jab, and hard straight right hands kept him off-balance for most of the bout, and in the end, he outlanded Pacquiao nearly 2-to-1 (148-81).

For Mayweather, 38, this is the fight that pretty much solidifies his legacy. He says he’ll fight again in September, but any hope of a rematch is probably now out the window. This was not a particularly competitive fight and probably disappointed a lot of the people who paid $100 to see it on pay-per-view. In simple terms, Floyd Mayweather did what he’s always done. It was a great tactical performance and a showcase of the master that Floyd Mayweather is between the bells.

Pacquiao doesn’t really take a step back so much as it’s now clear, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is not as good as Floyd Mayweather.

On the undercard, Vasyl Lomachenko and Leo Santa Cruz won as expected, with Lomachenko knocking out Gamalier Rodriguez in round nine, and Santa Cruz winning a shutout 10-round decision over Jose Cayetano.
