Bill Simmons is leaving ESPN

Big news! Bill Simmons is leaving ESPN when his contract expires in September. The split was first reported by NYT tv columnist Rich Sandomir.

ESPN PR tweeted a full statement from John Skipper:

One big question for consumers of Sports Internet is what will happen to Grantland. Here’s the [fire emoji] quote on the site Simmons founded from Skipper in the NYT report:

“It long ago went from being a Bill Simmons site to one that can stand on its own,” Skipper said.
