Jose Fernandez is back, and his first pitch was perfect

Welcome back, Jose Fernandez. Welcome back, fun.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Jose Fernandez is one of the most watchable pitchers in baseball. There is to be no argument on that point, and I would argue that he's the most watchable pitcher in baseball, simply because he combines the stuff and results with pure, baseball-loving joy.

He’s back. Here was his first pitch on Thursday.

fernandez

Fooomp, 94 on the inside corner. Welcome back.

Fernandez did allow two runs in the first (the last on a dead bird of a hit), but his stuff is crisp. Fastball. Breaking ball. Change. He looks like the pitcher from last April.

Welcome back, entertaining baseball player. Now entertain us with baseball. We know you will.
