Free agent forward Brandon Bass will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, reports Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports. Terms of the contract, which Spears describes as a "work in progress," aren't being disclosed but he says the two sides are in agreement.

The team has confirmed that it is "engaged in negotiations" with Bass and fellow free agent Lou Williams and intends to sign both of them. Williams has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the team, so it's only a matter of time before we learn the details of Bass' contract.
Bass, 29, spent the past four seasons playing for the Boston Celtics after a December 2011 trade from the Orlando Magic. Re-signed by Boston to a three-year deal in 2013, he became an unrestricted free agent this summer.
A 6'8 forward who can score from mid-range and crash the boards, he'll fit right in on a Lakers team that enters next season bereft of quality three-point shooters. The team does have some interesting perimeter talent in rookie D'Angelo Russell, Kobe Bryant and Williams, and Los Angeles doesn't seem to be prioritizing effective long-range shooting in the frontcourt like many other teams.
Bass averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game with the Celtics last season. He hasn’t missed a game in over two years, and that durability should help L.A. after injuries depleted its roster. He’s another guy who can’t step up and hit threes, however, which makes for an interesting addition to an already limited group of big men.
