The Great Lakes team from Bowling Green, Ky. built a 7-0 lead then held on to outlast the Northwest team from Portland, Ore., highlighting Saturday’s second day of action at the Little League World Series.

Devin Obee hit a three-run home run for Bowling Green in a four-run fifth inning, and added a single to his efforts in the win. Oregon charged back with a pair of home runs and pulled to within two runs, but Carson Myers got the final two outs of the game for the save.
Elsewhere, Blake Cavill went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Australia to a 3-0 win over the Dominican Republic. Idelfonso Puello stood out in defeat for the Dominican team, striking out 10 in four innings of relief, though he also allowed two runs.
Cavill’s home run was the second of back-to-back shots, along with teammate Jake Burns.

Chinese Taipei had their way with Canada in a 16-4 victory.
Rhode Island had a three-run lead in the sixth inning when Missouri loaded the bases, but then hit into a double play to end the game in Rhode Island’s 6-3 win in the nightcap.
The four losing teams on Saturday all suffered their second loss and were eliminated from the tournament, but every team gets to play at least three games in Williamsport. The Dominican Republic will take on Oregon in the first consolation game on Monday, followed by Canada against Missouri in the second consolation game on Tuesday.
