Little League World Series 2015 schedule for Thursday

With six teams remaining in Williamsport, the field gets thinned to four with a pair of elimination games on Thursday at Lamade Stadium.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Second Chance Thursday at the 2015 Little League World Series, with four teams with a loss on their resume vying for the final two spots in Saturday’s championship games in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Venezuela had a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, one out from victory over Japan on Wednesday, then was up 4-2 in the eighth, but suffered a heart-breaking walk-off 5-4 loss, forcing them to take an extra step to advance to Saturday’s international championship game.

Venezuela has been fairly consistent with 16 runs scored in its three games, but must face a Mexico squad with 25 runs in its last two games after being held to one run in each of their first two contests.

In the nightcap, a spot in the U.S. championship game is up for grabs with Texas and California meeting in a rematch of Sunday afternoon. Texas beat California on Sunday, but lost to Pennsylvania on Wednesday night.

California has scored at least 10 runs in three of its four games, averaging 9.8 runs per game so far in the Little League World Series.

ESPN will televise both games on Thursday, with both also available online at WatchESPN.
