Little League World Series scores and bracket: Mexico, Texas earn title game spots

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The final two spots in Saturday’s championship games have been filled, with Mexico and Texas capturing wins on Thursday in the 2015 Little League World Series.

The Seguro Social Little League team from Mexicali in Baja California, Mexico had their way with Venezuela in an 11-0 win on Thursday, advancing to play Japan in the International Championship Game on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 pm. ET.

Daniel Zaragoza struck out seven for Mexico in a complete-game three-hitter, and in 12 innings in this tournament has allowed six hits and no runs, with 17 strikeouts. Mexico has a team ERA of 1.62 in the Little League World Series, but has also scored double-digit runs in each of its last three games.

On the United States side of the bracket, home runs were the name of the game as the team from Pearland, Tx., beat Bonita, Calif., 9-7, in a lively affair thanks to a two-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The first 12 runs of the game -- six for each team -- were scored on the home run. Then California scored a more traditional run with a rally in the top of the eighth for a lead, answered immediately by Ben Gottfried with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the inning for Pennsylvania, followed by a two-run walk-off by Caleb Low.

California opened with a three-run home run in the top of the first, followed with Texas answering with a grand slam in the bottom of the inning, much to the enjoyment of Texas manager and third base coach Andrew Solomon.

Texas will face Pennsylvania on Saturday in the United States Championship Game.
