Little League World Series 2015 schedule for Saturday

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

It is championship Saturday at the 2015 Little League World Series, with both the United States Championship Game and International Championship Game taking place at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa.

The winners will face off on Sunday afternoon for the 2015 Little League World Series Championship.

Up first on Saturday is the international title contest, with Japan facing Mexico. The Tokyo Kitasuna Little League team is 3-0 so far in the tournament, outscoring opponents 15-10 in three close games. Japan beat Mexico 3-1 in the second round on Aug. 23, knocking Mexico to the losers bracket of the modified double elimination tournament.

Mexico beat Venezuela 11-0 on Wednesday to earn a spot in the international title game. They have had terrific pitching throughout the tournament, holding opponents to seven runs in five games. But it’s the Mexican offense that has been a force of late, scoring 36 runs in its last three games.

The U.S. Championship Game is the second of two Saturday contests, and will feature the team from nearby Lewisberry, Pa., roughly two hours from Williamsport, Pa. is 3-0 so far in the tournament, outscoring its foes 30-8 so far.

Pennsylvania will battle Texas, 9-7 winners over California in a home-run-filled affair on Thursday. This is a rematch of Wednesday night, when Pennsylvania outlasted Texas 3-0 to earn their spot in the U.S. title game.

Texas has scored 18 runs in its four games in the tournament, with half of the offense coming on Thursday, including five home runs. It should make for an exciting Saturday.

ABC will televise both games on Saturday, with both also available online at WatchESPN.
