FanDuel advice: Wide receivers in Divisional weekend

Injuries play a big role in how this week’s wide receivers shake out.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Editor’s Note: FanDuel is running a $1,500,000 fantasy football league in Divisional week. The top 46,000 teams win cash with $100,000 paid to first place on Sunday. Join now!

Of the four teams playing this weekend that also played last weekend, two of them might not even have their top wide receiver for this weekend’s games. Another will likely be without its second or third best receiving option. It makes picking a wide receiver for the upcoming weekend a bit tricky.

As of Thursday evening, it's still possible any of Antonio Brown, Jeremy Maclin and Davante Adams will play this weekend, but it's also possible all three sit. That means the role of their backups become very interesting.

Each week of the playoffs, I’m ranking the players at each position for FanDuel. That takes FanDuel salaries into account, meaning performances from cheap guys are more helpful than the ones from the expensive guys. The chart is below, with rationales to follow:

Wide receivers

Rank Wide Receiver Team Opp. Salary
1 Martavis Bryant PIT @DEN $7,100
2 Julian Edelman NE KC $7,800
3 Emmanuel Sanders DEN PIT $7,700
4 Demaryius Thomas DEN PIT $8,100
5 Jared Abbrederis GB @ARI $4,900
6 Doug Baldwin SEA @CAR $7,400
7 Markus Wheaton PIT @DEN $6,000
8 Michael Floyd ARI GB $6,500
9 John Brown ARI GB $6,700
10 Randall Cobb GB @ARI $6,600
11 James Jones GB @ARI $6,500
12 Albert Wilson KC @NE $5,400
13 Larry Fitzgerald ARI GB $7,900
14 Danny Amendola NE KC $6,200
15 Jermaine Kearse SEA @CAR $5,800
16 Ted Ginn Jr. CAR SEA $6,500
17 Chris Conley KC @NE $4,800
18 Tyler Lockett SEA @CAR $6,200
19 Devin Funchess CAR SEA $5,300
20 Philly Brown CAR SEA $5,400
  • Martavis Bryant is priced more or less as though Brown plays this weekend, and with that looking unlikely, Bryant could offer a big bargain.
  • Here's the situation for the Packers' receivers: James Jones will draw Patrick Peterson. Randall Cobb was shut down last time they played Arizona. And Davante Adams almost certainly won't play. On performance alone, I might not care a lot about Jared Abbrederis this week, but considering he might be the top Green Bay receiver this week and he's priced at only $4,900, using him clears up a lot of money to use elsewhere.
  • It's looking increasingly like Jeremy Maclin could play this weekend. And if he does, I want absolutely no part of him. It's virtually impossible he'll be at 100 percent, and I expect more decoy duty than anything.
