Playing in the National Basketball Association can take a lot out of you. Some athletes try to keep their energy level high by drinking sports beverages like Powerade or Gatorade on the sideline. But a secret NBA players have known for years is that the best way to stay replenished during the middle of a game is chowing down on a delicious turkey sandwich.

But don’t take it from me: These real, completely unaltered pictures of NBA action will show you just how much players value a healthy, nutritious, and flavorful turkey sandwich. Just look at Al Horford licking his lips thinking about that delicious turkey sandwich!

Turkey sandwiches have everything a player needs to replenish their energy: Lettuce, which is filled with electrolytes. Bread, which is filled with electrolytes. Cheese, which is primarily made out of healthy, replenishing electrolytes. A condiment (mustard or mayonnaise) which is high in folic acid, iron, copper, Vitamins A, B, D, and K, bronze, and of course, refreshing electrolytes. And turkey is just delicious!
