FanDuel advice: Quarterbacks in Wild Card weekend
Some big names are playing in the first week of the NFL playoffs.

Every week during the 2015 NFL season, we ranked players at every position for fantasy football players. Those rankings took into account several factors: performance, health, opponent, the normal things.
Well, for the playoffs, season-long fantasy leagues aren’t still going, but fantasy (namely, FanDuel and daily fantasy) continues. So when ranking players for this weekend’s games, salary is another huge factor.
Through the playoffs, I’ll be ranking the players at each position based on all the regular-season factors, plus the question of how much a player costs in FanDuel. Equal production from two guys who are priced $1,000 apart is not equal; if you use the cheaper guy in FanDuel, that extra $1,000 can let you splurge elsewhere and help you profit.
So below, I’ve ranked the quarterbacks for Wild Card weekend, with justifications to follow. Later today, I’ll have my rankings for the other positions:
Quarterbacks
| Rank | Quarterback | Team | Opponent | Salary |
| 1 | Russell Wilson | SEA | @MIN | $8,600 |
| 2 | Kirk Cousins | WAS | GB | $8,000 |
| 3 | Ben Roethlisberger | PIT | @CIN | $8,400 |
| 4 | Aaron Rodgers | GB | @WAS | $8,100 |
| 5 | Brian Hoyer | HOU | KC | $6,900 |
| 6 | Alex Smith | KC | @HOU | $7,100 |
| 7 | AJ McCarron | CIN | PIT | $6,400 |
| 8 | Teddy Bridgewater | MIN | SEA | $6,700 |
- If Andy Dalton were playing this weekend, I'd have him at least fourth on this list, if not third. And I suppose he hasn't been officially ruled out quite yet, but c'mon. In his stead, AJ McCarron hasn't been terrible, but surrounded by playoff-able quarterbacks, he's not exactly who I want to put money behind.
- We're 17 weeks into the season, and I still don't really know what to make of Kirk Cousins and Washington. They haven't beaten a team with a winning record all season, and have in fact lost such games by an average by more than 16 points per. In Washington wins, Cousins has averaged 24.33 fantasy points a game; in losses, that's 9.14. In home games, 20.75 fantasy points; on the road, 14.6. I guess my ranking says that I think Washington will beat Green Bay this weekend, but man, would a bad loss not surprise me.
- It's hard to think of anyone more trustworthy in fantasy right now than Russell Wilson, who had 18-plus fantasy points in each of his last seven games of the regular season, averaging 26.6 per game in that time. You'd rather he play at home than on the road, maybe, and yes, he's the most expensive quarterback, but he's earned that.
