Part of the reason the Dolphins lost was because Laremy Tunsil slipped in the shower

Laremy Tunsil’s replacement had the worst performance in the NFL in Week 5, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Tennessee Titans racked up six sacks against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in a 30-17 win. Ryan Tannehill’s rough day featured two interceptions and chants from fans who wanted him to be replaced by Matt Moore.

Maybe his day could’ve been better if starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil wasn’t forced to miss the game due to an ankle injury suffered during a slip in the shower just hours before game time.

Tunsil was the team’s first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft and started the first three games of the season at left guard before moving to left tackle in Week 4. With him out of the lineup, the Dolphins relied on Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas to handle the left side of the offensive line.

It didn’t go well:

That performance was so bad, that on Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported that Turner was informed by the team that he would be released.

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase apparently isn’t concerned about the slippery shower floors at Hard Rock Stadium and told reporters Monday that Tunsil’s injury was “a one in a thousand, one in a million issue.”

But the slip, which caused swelling in Tunsil’s ankle, could keep the offensive lineman out for longer, although Gase did say that he is able to walk on it.

Tunsil’s NFL career got off to a weird start before it ever began when his Twitter account was hacked to tweet an old video of him smoking a bong through a gas mask just minutes before the beginning of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He’s been solid to start his NFL career so far, though. The Phinsider said he has “looked like a seasoned vet” so far in his career, and Pro Football Focus lauded him for his run blocking.

If Tunsil is out for an extended period of time, it’s bad news for the Dolphins and particularly bad news for Tannehill.
