The Rams can’t overcome trademark ‘7 and 9 bulls**t’ in a 17-10 loss to the Giants

Case Keenum threw four interceptions, and you can guess how that turned out.

Both offenses struggled to move the ball in this game. However, the defenses created the turnovers that led to touchdowns, thanks to the four interceptions Rams starter Case Keenum threw.

On the Giants’ opening possession of the game, tight end Larry Donnell fumbled the ball on his first catch.

Rams cornerback Lamarcus Joyner forced the fumble, and cornerback EJ Gaines recovered the ball and returned it to the Giants 21-yard line for 14 yards. That fumble return led to a 10-yard touchdown reception by Rams receiver Tavon Austin.

New York’s defense struck back with a turnover of its own, and the defense punched the ball into the end zone.

Leading 10-3 midway through the second quarter, Rams quarterback Case Keenum threw a short pass that was intended for Austin. The ball went through his hands, and Giants safety Landon Collins intercepted the ball off the ricochet for an electrifying 44-yard interception return for a touchdown. That return tied the game, 10-10.

Collins wasn’t done helping his team out. Tied up at 10 in the fourth quarter, Collins caught another interception that led to a one-yard touchdown run by Rashad Jennings

So much for yards on offense

Yes, both teams struggled to move the chains in this game. For the Rams, their passing offense was playing okay, but they couldn’t gain any traction on the ground. Running back Todd Gurley has been struggling all season, and the Rams offensive line is having a hard time carving out rushing lanes for him. Fisher built this offense around Gurley, but he was replaced by Benny Cunningham on the potential game-winning drive.

Keenum was horrible in this game. He took sacks, overthrew receivers, and threw four interceptions, including this backbreaker at the end of the game.

PIck

Like the Rams, New York had a hard time generating a solid rushing attack. Los Angeles’ defensive lineman and linebackers did an excellent job of clogging up rushing lanes and making tackles from behind the line of scrimmage.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning didn’t have the luxury of throwing from clean pockets because the Rams’ pass rush harassed him throughout the whole game. The Giants finished the game with 233 total yards of offense.

Silly mistakes are killing the Rams

Head coach Jeff Fisher wants his team to play a physical brand of football. However, this team is not disciplined. The Rams finished the game with eight penalties to the Giants’ three. Offensive tackle Greg Robinson is usually the culprit for a lot of the Rams’ penalties.

The Rams also made mistakes when managing timeouts.

Is it Jared Goff time?

The Rams started the season with a 3-1 record, but they are now 3-4. Keenum has become a problem for the Rams. He keeps making horrible decisions with the football down the stretch.

Rams rookie Jared Goff may get his chance to start the season. It’s going to be difficult for the Rams to make it to the playoffs at 3-4, so Fisher must start Goff to try and salvage their season.

Collins’ big day

Collins’ two interceptions made a huge difference in this game for the Giants. He played with intensity and physicality.

What’s next

The Rams head into their bye week with this huge question: Is it time to start Goff? The Giants head back home to face a divisional foe in the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday.
