Steve Smith is wearing cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence

Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith is making a statement on Sunday by wearing domestic violence awareness cleats ahead of his Sunday game against the New York Jets. It comes in response to Giants’ kicker Josh Brown, who was suspended for domestic violence and in documents from the investigation admitted to spousal abuse.

Smith has been critical of the NFL’s response towards domestic violence, and spoken out against players in the league who have abused women. Smith blasted Brown this week after the news emerged.

This isn’t the first time Smith has made his feelings known. He was critical of former teammate Greg Hardy, and blasted Ray Rice in 2014.

Dear NFL, you better not even think for a second about fining him.
