Eli Manning says he was not using ‘Trump’ as an audible

It sure sounds like he’s saying “Trump,’ though.

If you were watching the New York Giants’ win over the Los Angeles Rams in Twickenham Stadium on Sunday, you may have heard Eli Manning calling an audible that sounded like it referenced GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

It sounds like Manning yells, “Hey, Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump!”

After the Giants’ 17-10 victory over the Rams, Manning denied that he had used Trump’s name.

“Trump? Trump? No, no Trump, no Trump calls,” Manning said after the game. “We are using something very similar. But there is not a Trump, not an audible we are using. Nothing there, nothing there.”

If Manning wasn’t yelling “Trump,” we’re not sure what he might have been saying instead. Could he be saying “drum,” or “drunk?” Maybe Manning wasn’t referencing the Republican presidential candidate, but he’s a huge fan of that 1990s band, The Presidents of the United States of America, and he’s using the title of their song “Lump” as an audible.

Both Manning and his brother, Peyton, gave money to Jeb Bush’s campaign, but it definitely doesn’t sound like he’s saying “Jeb!”

The result of the play was a 1-yard gain on a carry by running back Bobby Rainey.

Maybe the Giants aren’t trying to make audibles great again, but they still managed to bring home the win.
