This photo sums up Washington’s 70-21 destruction of Oregon

Washington snapped a 12-game losing streak and beat Oregon convincingly on Saturday night.

That’s Washington quarterback Jake Browning, gesturing at a Duck (whose team was dressed in blue and gold; it’s a long story) during the Huskies’ 70-21 beatdown of their rival, ending a 12-year losing streak in this series.

Just as the Huskies did last week against Stanford — when they beat the Cardinal a fashion similar to what the Cardinal have done to opponents lately — they put vintage Oregon-style numbers on the Ducks on Saturday.

The Huskies opened things up by scoring 28 unanswered points in the first and second quarters. Oregon managed to score a touchdown in the second quarter, but let Washington score another touchdown to enter the locker room down 35-7.

In the second half, what was left of Oregon’s defense allowed three Husky touchdowns, while the Ducks found only two touchdowns in the third quarter, which would be the last points they would score all night. Washington put up another two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the nail in the coffin.

Oregon’s 21 points on the night was the lowest number of points put up by the Ducks’ offense in this series since 2003, when it lost 42-10 to Washington.

It’s been a long 12 years for Washington fans in this series, but they have to be happy with this.
