Terrell Suggs used a brilliant move to force the Browns QB to fumble

One of the greatest pass rushers of all-time showed off his sack artistry Thursday.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs has been sacking quarterbacks for a long time and knows exactly how to get the job done. He’s No. 22 all-time in sacks with 112.5, but it’s hard to imagine he has many on his highlight reel better than the strip sack of Josh McCown on Thursday Night Football.

With only a handful of minutes remaining and the Ravens up 28-7, it was a mostly inconsequential sack, but Suggs put the game on ice by tearing into Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas to knock the ball from McCown’s hands.

In slow motion, you can see that Suggs had the opportunity to swipe at the ball earlier, but waited for the most opportune time to force a fumble:

From another angle, Suggs looks like he can only reach McCown’s elbow or forearm with his initial swipe, so he makes a momentary hesitation so that he can slap at the wrist and ball to give him the best chance at knocking it loose.

“Sack artist” is probably an overused cliché in football, but Suggs showed the artistry that has made him one of the greatest pass rushers of all-time on the play.
