Julian Edelman, DeSean Jackson, and the rest of Week 10’s most impactful injuries

It’s been a painful week in the NFL.

The playoff race in the NFL is starting to take shape, but many teams across the league are suffering injuries that could make or break their seasons.

In Week 10, Aqib Talib was ruled out for the Broncos, who are trying to recover from their loss against the now AFC West-leading Raiders. The Falcons will have a pair of significant injuries with running back Tevin Coleman and cornerback Desmond Trufant out against the Philadelphia Eagles this week.

Other notable players out Sunday include Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu, Chargers LB Denzel Perryman, and Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls.

So with that, let’s take a look at other injuries around the league.

1) Martellus Bennett, Julian Edelman, and Chris Hogan vs. Seahawks

The Patriots are having their Super Bowl 49 rematch against the Seattle Seahawks this weekend. If we’re lucky, it’ll make for the best Sunday night game we’ve seen all season. Without Bennett, Edelman, and Hogan, that could change.

Bennett is battling an ankle injury, while Edelman is dealing with a foot injury. Hogan has a back injury, leaving three of the four top receivers on the Patriots uncertain for Sunday.

Status: All three are playing.

2) Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills vs. Chargers

Jay Ajayi has been the centerpiece of the Miami Dolphins offense for some weeks now. Landry and Stills remain as threats on the outside, but without them on Sunday, it could make Ajayi’s job a lot harder with all eyes on him.

While both in a questionable standing, the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero reports that the Dolphins expect both to play. But with shoulder and calf injuries for Landry and Stills respectively, you can never be sure.

Status: Both are active.

3) DeSean Jackson vs. Vikings

Jackson’s done a fairly good job of staying on the field this season. In Week 8, he left with a head contusion and also has been nursing a rotator cuff injury. That’s got his status for Sunday looking rather bleak.

Some reports have Jackson out, but it seems that Washington is intent on making sure it has no choice before giving up on him prior to a big game against the Vikings.

Status: He is out this week ... probably next week too.

4) Will Fuller vs. Jaguars

Fuller’s had a good rookie season considering the Texans have had troubles on offense, particularly at quarterback. The wide receiver has snared 25 receptions for 372 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Head coach Bill O’Brien told the Houston Chronicle that he wasn’t sure whether Fuller would be available for Sunday because of his knee and hamstring injuries. The Texans need any help they can get on offense and not having Fuller would be a pretty big blow.

Status: Inactive this week.

5) Todd Gurley vs. Jets

The sophomore slump is hitting Todd Gurley hard. He’s far from having the season he did last year, when he rushed for over 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns, and it has a lot to do with what’s going on (or not going on) around him. Gurley’s been nursing a thigh injury and didn’t practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Gurley sounded optimistic about his status on Friday, as he told ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez. “I feel pretty good today,” Gurley said. “I’ll just leave it at that.” The Rams, who don’t have a whole lot of options on offense, should be happy to hear that.

Status: He’s in.

6) Allen Hurns vs. Texans

The Jaguars defense doesn’t have much to worry about when it comes to the Houston offense. With that said, the Jags have had their own problems on that side of the ball. Hurns is dealing with a concussion, and he’s been the team’s leading receiver through eight games.

Hurns went through the team’s walkthrough, according to ESPN’s Mike DiRocco, but has yet to be cleared from concussion protocol. A win over the Texans would be big for the Jaguars in the AFC South race, but without Hurns, that task becomes a lot tougher.

Status: He will play.

7) Doug Martin vs. Bears

Both Martin and Jacquizz Rodgers missed the Buccaneers game against the Falcons last Thursday, and despite the long week, Rodgers is out, and Martin is still not certain for Sunday.

We haven’t seen Martin since Week 2 because of his hamstring injury, but it appears he’s getting closer and closer by the week. The Buccaneers haven’t shown many signs of life, so it’s no surprise that he hasn’t been rushed back into the mix.

Status: He’ll play, but expect a limited workload.

8) Travis Benjamin vs. Dolphins

Benjamin’s been on this list a couple of times this year already, and he missed the majority of last week’s win against the Titans because of a lingering knee injury. That same injury has his status for this week up in the air as well.

Benjamin hasn’t participated in practice all week, and that’s typically not a great sign for any player heading into Sunday.

Status: He’s out.

9) Carlos Hyde vs. Cardinals

We haven’t seen Hyde since Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills because of a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. The 49ers have a divisional matchup against the Cardinals on the road. Not having Hyde would make an already unfortunate situation worse.

Even with Hyde, the likelihood of the 49ers winning on the road in Arizona seems pretty low. But the NFL always has a funny way of surprising us.

Status: Hyde is back.

10) Ryan Kalil vs. Chiefs

One of the biggest stories of the NFL season has been Cam Newton and the hits he has taken. Obviously, one of the greatest preventive measures is having a healthy offensive line. His center, Ryan Kalil, has been dealing with a shoulder sprain and has not been practicing after missing last week.

The quarterback-center dynamic is one of the more overlooked relationships on the field, and while he may not have the biggest name on the team, his absence would be impactful. Luckily for the Panthers, Gino Gradkowski looks like he will be able to go in his place.

Status: He is inactive.
