Pead was reportedly ejected from his vehicle during a serious accident.

According to NBC4 in Columbus, Ohio, Pead lost control of his vehicle and drove through a guardrail. The vehicle struck several trees as it traveled down an embankment, and Pead was ejected from the vehicle.
Pead racked up 3,288 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns during his time at the University of Cincinnati and his former head coach Tommy Tuberville addressed the running back’s incident on his 700 WLW-AM radio show Wednesday night.
“It’s devastating, because he lost part of his left leg,” Tuberville said. “He’ll never play again, obviously. It’s just devastating.”
“[Cincinnati trainer] Bob Mangine went to see him yesterday. In good spirits, was in a wheelchair, but obviously devastated about what happened. He’s fighting hard, and hopefully we can get him back down this way and get him around the players, get his spirits back up pretty soon.”
Pead was a second-round pick of the St. Louis Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft and played in 27 games for the team. He had a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015, although he never appeared in a game, and signed with the Miami Dolphins in the offseason but was released in October.
