I’m pretty sure Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has a book full or trick plays he can run during a given season. In the first half against Iowa, the Wolverines called a play with quite the interesting formation, personnel-wise. UM safety Jabrill Peppers was lined up at quarterback, and usual quarterback Wilton Speight was lined up under the right guard.
Michigan’s QB lined up behind the right guard as a decoy for Jabrill Peppers
Jim Harbaugh, trick play calling master.

Peppers took a direct snap and ran it around the left side. The tricky formation resulted in a six-yard gain. It looks like where Speight was lined up didn’t matter much looking at where the defense was keyed in, but it obviously was an odd look regardless.
Trick plays are something that Michigan has used multiple times this season. First, there’s this ten-man centipede formation that Harbaugh has run a couple times this season.
And of course Peppers has played just about every position this season, so why not throw him in at quarterback, right?
We will continue to keep you informed on all things Michigan trick plays.
