Here’s something we haven’t been able to say for a while: The Saints are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They’ve won their last two games and four of their last five, thanks to prolific production from the offense (and a defense that’s not screwing it up for them). At the center of it, as usual, is Drew Brees.
Drew Brees’ latest career milestone wasn’t overshadowed by a terrible Saints team
Brees has been checking off career milestones for a few years now, but you probably didn’t notice because the Saints have been so bad.

With a 3-yard, game-tying touchdown pass against the Denver Broncos to Willie Snead, Brees reached 450 total for his career. Only two other quarterbacks have done that: Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. It’s rarified air.
It’s not even his first major career milestone this year. In Week 2, he surpassed Dan Marino on the list for career passing yards. Entering Week 10, Brees had 63,591 career passing yards. That’s the most among any active player and the third most all time. Only, you guessed it: Manning and Favre have more.
Brees is 37 and in the 16th year of his career. Since his second season, in 2002, he’s played 15 or 16 games a year except one. Players with that kind of longevity, remarkable in and of itself, tend to rack up a lot of milestones, and Brees is no different.
However, a lot of Brees’ milestones have come with a Saints team that hasn’t had a winning season since 2013. If New Orleans can keep up its blistering pace, maybe this is the year that the milestones don’t get overshadowed by the losses.
