Tony Romo is willing to be the backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys when he makes his return from injury. It’s going to happen next week when the Cowboys take on the Ravens. Jerry Jones confirmed Sunday night after the team’s dramatic 35-30 win over the Steelers that Romo would be active and serving as Dak Prescott’s backup in Week 11.
Tony Romo will be Dak Prescott’s backup in Week 11
Tony Romo will return as Dak Prescott’s backup next week.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Dak Prescott is expected to be the team’s starter as long as he continues to play well. Romo is likely to be ready to return to the lineup in Week 11, but will watch from the sideline — an unfamiliar place for the Cowboys’ starter for the last decade.
Prescott helped lead the Cowboys to their eighth straight win on Sunday, the second-most ever for a rookie quarterback. Prescott threw for 319 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the game.
Romo took it all in stride after the game too.
Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2003, Romo ascended to the top of the depth chart in 2006 and has started 126 games since. His last time as a backup was during the 2006 season before he eventually wrangled the starting job away from Drew Bledsoe. Romo’s experience and sustained performance over the years make the decision to stick with Prescott a far from easy one, but the fourth-round pick has led the Cowboys to a 7-1 start with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.
With the veteran healthy on the sideline for the last few weeks of the season, the pressure on Prescott to succeed will be higher than ever. It’s anyone’s guess how long the leash will be for the rookie with a $119.5 million quarterback watching from the sideline. But any struggles for the Cowboys’ offense could result in a change.
The Dallas offense hasn’t struggled much at all, and unfortunately for Romo, the philosophy for the Cowboys now is “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
