Cam Newton orchestrated the longest drive in Carolina Panthers history. Somehow, it ended with a punt.
The Panthers did something no team has done in 18 years, punt on a 20-play drive
20 plays, 10 minutes, and zero points.

Newton was the force behind a clock-draining, 20-play drive in the third quarter of Carolina’s Week 10 matchup against Kansas City, but the 2015 NFL MVP couldn’t turn a 10-minute possession into points.
It also happens to be kind of a record. According to Pro Football Focus, no team has ever done that in the last 18 years, which is as far back as their play index data goes.
The 16th play of the drive gave Carolina a 1st-and-10 situation at the KC 20, but Newton was blasted out of bounds by Eric Berry for a 1-yard loss on first down.
Newton was sacked on the following two plays, sustaining losses of 7 and 12 yards. That pushed the Panthers back to the KC 40, where Graham Gano entered the game to punt the ball away.
Remember, this was also the longest drive in Carolina franchise history.
Congrats, Panthers. You’re in the record books!
