Cole Beasley’s helmet turned a full 180 degrees on this missed facemask call

How was this not called?

Dallas Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley had his helmet pull a complete 180 when William Gay wrenched him to the ground by his facemask in the fourth quarter Sunday. The game’s officials didn’t see fit to call a penalty on the play.

A penalty would have moved Dallas 15 yards into Pittsburgh territory in the final 30 seconds of a 30-29 game. Instead, Beasley had to settle for a brief glimpse at his own back and a 10-yard reception.

Two plays later, the Steelers would be flagged for a much more benign facemask at the tail end of a Jason Witten reception.

The Cowboys would rally to win the game on Ezekiel Elliott’s 32-yard touchdown run with just nine seconds left on the clock.
