Just before Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin hit quarterback Russell Wilson with a touchdown pass on a trick play in the third quarter of Seattle’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Baldwin looked toward the Seahawks’ sideline and flipped offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell the bird.

Baldwin didn’t love the play call, but it sure worked out just fine.

“We’re in the fucking red zone, and you want me to throw the ball?” Baldwin said after the game, according to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN. “Throw me the ball.”
Every receiver would rather catch touchdowns than throw them, but this play certainly worked out just fine.
Baldwin said he flipped Bevell off because he felt like the decision to have Baldwin throw the ball in the red zone was the play-calling equivalent of Bevell flipping off Baldwin.
“It’s more funny than it is anything,” Baldwin said. “[Bevell] knows that when we get in the red zone, I want the ball thrown to me. I want to score touchdowns. And so, it’s like in that situation, him flipping the bird to me because now he’s got me throwing the ball to somebody else.”
It wasn’t the first time that a Seahawks player has extended his middle fingers toward Bevell because he didn’t appreciate the play call. Marshawn Lynch didn’t care for Bevell’s decision to call a play-action pass to tight end Kellen Davis against the Cardinals instead of handing the ball off to Lynch on third-and-goal from the 1-yard line.
Bevell was unfazed by Baldwin flipping him the bird.
“He just looked at me and laughed,” Baldwin said. “Nothing could be said. It worked out perfectly, right?”
It did work out perfectly, and the Seahawks improved to 7-2-1 after beating the Eagles, 26-15.
