The National Dog Show is a Thanksgiving tradition, airing each year on NBC following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The event is hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, and includes seven different groups of competition. Those groups include herding, hound, non-sporting, sporting terrier, toy and working breeds.
National Dog Show 2016: Time, TV schedule, and online streaming for Thanksgiving special
The National Dog Show is set for Thursday following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.

NBC will begin its broadcast of the National Dog Show at 12 p.m. ET, and a live stream will be available online at NBC Sports. It’s worth noting the event is airing on tape delay, as the actual competition took place on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20. But the winners have not been announced, so the broadcast will reveal that information.
The Skye Terrier is the reigning champion in the Best in Show category, won by a dog named Charlie in 2015. But a breed hasn’t repeated the past three years, going back to when the Wire Fox Terrier won in 2011 and 2012. Between those years, the American Foxhound won in 2013 and the Bloodhound won in 2014.
The National Dog show is one of three major dog shows in the United States alongside the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the Westminster Dog Show. Each breed has to beat out their own to earn the Best in Breed award. At that point, it will advance to the group stage, and one dog from each pool will be chosen to compete for the Best in Show award, the top honor at the competition.
