Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace make a hilarious duo and TNT needs to keep them together

Everything about TNT’s new “Area 21” segment was great. The only problem is that Rasheed Wallace was only a guest.

Kevin Garnett didn’t spend much time in the shadows after his retirement, like fellow living legends Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan. He already has his own segment on NBA on TNT called Area 21, and it is glorious.

On its debut on Thursday night, Garnett had Rasheed Wallace as his guest. That’s an explosive and unpredictable combination, but TNT was ready for it. They gave them a Cuss Button to use if their emotions ran away from them.

It wasn’t a prop, either. They demonstrated how it worked after being asked by Kenny Smith about it.

You can’t ever take too many precautions when dealing with the famously profane Garnett.

Fortunately, they didn’t need it. In fact, the segment was surprisingly good, considering it was the first time it ran. Sheed and KG brought a unique perspective to a big night. They discussed how hard it is to face former teammates.

They talked about superteams and what motivates players to form them.

They even offered some nice analysis of both Cavaliers - Celtics...

... and Warriors - Thunder.

And of course, they had a discussion about whether Russell Westbrook’s pants were tights or jeans.

There’s more from Area 21 to be found on the NBA on TNT’s twitter feed, if you missed it.

The segment is supposed to be a fixture of TNT broadcasts, and going by the first edition, it should be a fantastic addition.

But please, let’s take this one step further and install Wallace as the permanent co-host. It’s hard to imagine other guests having as much chemistry with KG. And if the goal is “to keep it 100,” as Garnett said at the start of the segment, there’s no better person to help him do that than Sheed.

Make it happen, TNT. Give us Area 21 with Garnett and Wallace, and we will be forever indebted to you.
